This is why i love what i do:: because it efFfF---ing rocks my socks!
Okay okay Kirsten- lets bring it back down to reality for a minute- you guys are probably thinking i fell of the planet of the earth...maybe i did for a minute---*blissed out in bhakti*.. ----but im back! I just stepped in the door from probably the best day yet ive had in Orebro (atleast top 3) and wanted to fill you in! I will post tomorrow more about the past few weeks (Malmo, Copenhagen, birthday & Rome) But for now, here is December 3rd::
So i just got back from teaching 40 10 year old gymnastic girls yoga in Sweden and it was the bomb! (thy if your reading this, it was “the bomb.com”)
.FOR REAL.
Walter, an agent here in Sweden, got me the opportunity to teach yoga to a girls gymnastics club! Initially when he told me i was like:
“YEA!!!!” (eyes popping out of my head, hair standing straight up and everything....well not quite but you get the excitement)
I was so stoked to teach yoga let alone to kids! Adults here in Sweden are sometimes shy when it comes to English- they either think that they do not speak it well or understand it well- which is VERY not true! Everyone has impeccable English and, for the most part, understand all of us Canadians. But anyways, with kids you do not really have to worry about this- they are open minded, not so shy and kids are just plane-jane fun! So i was pumped!! Then Walter tells me... “there will be 50 girls!”
“EEK!” (eyes popping out of my head, hair standing straight up and everything.....)
10 young girls is enough let alone 50! Slightly worried, my wicked partner in crime~ Chelsea~ comes to the rescue! She was kind enough to help me out as we tackled a yoga class together with 50 young yoginis!
The class went very well!! The girls were so good and well behaved! 10 of the girls were unable to make it but still at 40 it did not feel the slightest bit crazy! They were open to listening to us in English and for those who did not understand us listened to the translator- who was in the group. The class was only 30 minutes (maybe a little closer to 40.... ;) ) so it was super simple! We took them through pranayama, partner breathing games, sun salutations & a few sweet poses- tripod prep, bakasana, astavakrasana- aka.- the “yoga propaganda” catches the kids attention and makes them interested! (little tip for kids yoga teachers!)
To cap off the wicked experience, at the end of the class the kids left the room then all came back and gave me and Chelsea each a chocolate bar and a dozen red roses- as if ! We were so happy to simply be involved in the community and to share some laughs~ incredibly thoughtful!
All in all it was a stellar experience~ So BIG thank you to Walter, Chelsea & Lotta (with crew) for making this happen!
So this is why it rocks to be a yogi~
because its OMMMMMazing! You get to go teach kids (or big kids!) make them laugh, see them smile, have a few giggles yourself, share aLoTTa love & feel like you are reALLy part of something BIG- bec
ause you are.
Great'full for december 3rd.::
